In this guide we will outline how to add a lease to a unit. Leases must be connected to a specific user within the unit so ensure you have added the renter in the Unit File before creating the lease.
A lease can be assigned to any user in the unit as long as they do not belong to the "Owners" built-in group. This logic is designed to prevent accidentally creating a lease for users who own and live in the unit.
Examples of eligible groups for lease creation:
- Users in the "Renter" group
- Users in the "Resident" group
- Users in any other custom group or built-in admin type group
1. Select Unit File from the main menu.
2. Search for the unit that you'd like add the lease to, then click on the unit number.
3. Next, select the Lease Details tab.
4. Click on New in the top-right corner.
5. Enter the lease details including User, Start Date, End Date and Lease Amount. If applicable, add any comments and attach a file. Once completed, click Save.
The lease has now been added to the Unit.
Note: Email notifications about expiring leases are generated for users in the built-in Property Managers group unless they have the email preference "Email me when a unit's lease is about to expire" disabled or are unsubscribed from all email notifications.
