Manually verifying vehicles during patrols can slow you down, especially when you need to cross-reference plates against the Unit File or visitor parking records by hand. License plate scanning solves this by letting you scan a vehicle's license plate directly from the mobile app to instantly check whether it belongs to a registered resident or has an active visitor parking permit. This guide outlines how to use the license plate scanner on the mobile app. This feature currently supports online mode only and is available on the iOS and Android app version 13.12.0 and up.
1. Select Security & Concierge from the main menu.
2. Pick the Scan Plate option.
3. Grant the app access to use your camera and then align it with the license plate.
4. If the license plate is recognized, and belongs to a resident, you will see their vehicle details and can click View Unit File to see their full profile.
If the license plate is recognized, and belongs to a guest, you will see if their parking pass is current or expire and can click View Full Permit to see the parking pass details.
5. If the license plate is not recognized, you will be alerted that no matching vehicle was found. You can try again or enter the license plate manually (in case the image quality was poor). If there is still no match, the vehicle has not been registered to a resident or guest.
If applicable, you can then create an incident report about the parking violation.
