This user guide provides tips on how to troubleshoot common patrol issues.
Refer to the Security Patrol Setup guide for general settings and implementation best practices.
Issue: The NFC Tag won't scan.
- If you are using an iPhone, the NFC hotspot is at the top of your phone. Ensure you are pointing that area at the NFC tag. iPhone 6 or lower cannot scan NFC tags.
- If you are using an Android, NFC is typically turned off by default. Ensure you have enabled it on your device before scanning a checkpoint.
Issue: I scanned the checkpoint but it didn't register.
- Some communities require checkpoints to be scanned in a certain order. More than likely, you scanned the incorrect checkpoint. iPhones do not tell you when you have scanned the wrong checkpoint. Try the next NFC tag or select Skip Checkpoint to continue with the patrol.
Issue: I have no internet access in the parking garage and can't start the patrol.
- You must have internet access to start a patrol but do not require internet access to complete it. Begin the patrol when you are still above ground and have internet access. Then proceed to the parking garage and complete the patrol.
Issue: My team does not have enough time to complete the patrol route.
- The default time range to complete a patrol is 1 hour. This setting applies to all patrol routes. Administrators can change this setting from the setup page under the Security Patrol Settings section.
Issue: My team cannot tell which NFC tag corresponds to each checkpoint.
- Give each checkpoint a descriptive name instead of numbering them. For example instead of Checkpoint 1, Checkpoint 2 etc. try Boiler Room Checkpoint, Pool Checkpoint etc. This will make it clear where each checkpoint is located.
